Change Is In The Air…

May 15th will mark one year since I left corporate primary care to start a dream that began years earlier. I wanted to create a practice that focused solely on women and their needs through their lifetime, with a particular focus on perimenopause and menopause. I saw this age group being underserved in this stage of life. They were no longer having babies and they were not currently experiencing multiple chronic disease states but they weren’t feeling their best. I hadn’t received much training in school about midlife except maybe the one line, “estrogen can be used but for the lowest dose and shortest time”. No elaboration on the multitude of systems estrogen really affects. No discussion about the bone loss or memory issues or generalized aches and pains that a drop in this hormone can cause.

Oh how I wish I had been taught what I know now back then! How many less women would have been put on anti-depressants, anti-hypertensives, or perhaps prevented their first autoimmune flare? I can’t say for certain but I can tell you how much my clinical practice has changed. And I see a community of women who deserve an option that isn’t “old school” and focuses on them and their specific needs. So, I created Sapphire Wellness. It has 30- and 60-minute appointments so women don’t feel rushed or blown off. I prescribe hormones and GLP-1s because these are systemic and can affect more than just our cycles and our weight. I stay on top of the most evidence-based care because women deserve to know the facts, not just a wellness gimmick.

June 1st, 2026 will mark the day I begin practicing both telehealth medicine AND in-person medicine. I am excited to see people “in real life” and not just through a screen (although I like the option, because I know how busy life can be!). And I want my patients to know that I pledge to be a provider who looks at them as a whole person and not just a lab or a one-and-done complaint!

So if that’s you, I want you to know that you deserve care that takes EVERYTHING you are experiencing into account and makes sure there aren’t other issues that could be complicating your cause. You deserve a provider who is willing to be a listener of your specific issues and needs and create a personlized plan that walks with your through the phases of life.

I am excited to see the ways this practice can grow and I am dedicated to providing an alternative option to the 15-minute rushed appointment that so many of us have experienced!
